What each tool is built for
Google Hotels
Google Hotels compares rates across many booking sites and is the broadest free starting point when you are still choosing where to stay. Google Travel also offers tracked hotel prices, tied to your Google account. It is a search product first — it is not built around one specific booking of yours or its cancellation terms.
KAYAK
KAYAK is metasearch at scale: by its own account it processes results from over 2 million properties and hundreds of third-party sites, and it is free to use with no fee added on top. You can create a Price Alert from the hotel results list, which requires a KAYAK account. Like Google, its centre of gravity is the phase before you commit.
Pruvo
Pruvo tracks the price of existing hotel reservations and aims to get you the same room at a lower price. Worth knowing before you sign up: pruvo.net now redirects to pruvo.com, which presents Pruvo as an AI platform for travel businesses — bedbanks, OTAs, tour operators — as a Web Travel Group company. The traveler-facing product still runs at app.pruvo.com, but the company’s public shop window is B2B.
