Google Hotels and KAYAK are built to help you compare before you book. Pruvo works on existing reservations, but its main site is now aimed at travel companies. Hotel Tracker is the one built end to end for you, the traveler — before and after you book, with your own target price and no confirmation email to hand over.
Why travelers pick Hotel Tracker
We do one job and we do it properly: we check the live rate for your exact stay once a day — same hotel, same dates, same number of guests — and email you when it falls below the price you set.
- You set the target, not an algorithm. Enter a fixed price or ask us to watch for a minimum saving, for example at least 5% off what you already paid. Nobody decides for you what counts as a good deal.
- Before and after booking. Track a hotel you are still deciding on so you buy at the low point — or track a free-cancellation stay you already booked and rebook cheaper.
- Checked automatically, once a day. The same on Free, Gold and Platinum. No drop, no email. We do not send noise.
- Nothing to hand over. No booking confirmation forwarded, no account linked to a booking site. You type in hotel, dates, guests and your price — that is all we hold.
- Free for 3 months on the Free plan. One hotel, daily checks, drop alerts, no credit card, nothing to cancel.
- Built for travelers, not for the industry. Every screen here is made for one person watching one trip.
Track your first hotel free — setup takes under a minute.
What each tool is built for
Google Hotels
Google Hotels compares rates across many booking sites and is the broadest free starting point when you are still choosing where to stay. Google Travel also offers tracked hotel prices, tied to your Google account. It is a search product first — it is not built around one specific booking of yours or its cancellation terms.
KAYAK
KAYAK is metasearch at scale. You can create a Price Alert from the hotel results list, which requires a KAYAK account. Like Google, its centre of gravity is the phase before you commit. How KAYAK’s alerts compare with Hotel Tracker.
Pruvo
Pruvo tracks the price of existing hotel reservations and aims to get you the same room at a lower price. Worth knowing before you sign up: pruvo.net now redirects to pruvo.com, which presents Pruvo as an AI platform for travel businesses — bedbanks, OTAs, tour operators — as a Web Travel Group company. The traveler-facing product still runs at app.pruvo.com, but the company’s public shop window is B2B.
Hotel Tracker
We are the traveler’s tool, and we are not trying to be anything else. You enter the hotel, your dates, your guests and your price. You choose a fixed target or a percentage below what you paid. We check the live rate automatically and email you the new rate, your exact saving and a booking link for the same stay — and we help you judge whether cancelling and rebooking actually pays off. Nothing is ever cancelled or rebooked automatically. Tracking continues after an alert, right up to check-in. See how it works.
KAYAK hotel price alerts vs Hotel Tracker
KAYAK’s hotel price alerts are built into its search. According to KAYAK’s help pages, you sign in, then click “Set Price Alert” at the top right of the hotel results list. You can also track a single hotel by name and number of guests, or a destination with your dates and number of rooms. KAYAK refreshes alerts once a day, usually early in the morning. If you switch on real-time alerts, it also notifies you when a price moves by a significant amount, typically around 10% since your last update. Notifications arrive by email or push and are mostly bundled into one message a day. Alerts end once your travel date has passed, and can also expire if you stop opening the alert emails. If you are still comparing hotels and destinations, that is a convenient setup.
Hotel Tracker works differently. You enter one specific stay (hotel, dates, guests) and set your own target, either a fixed amount or a percentage below the price you paid. We check the live price once a day and email you when it falls below that target. It works before and after you book, and you never forward a booking confirmation. Nothing is cancelled or rebooked automatically; you decide what to do with the email.
KAYAK’s public help pages do not describe a custom target price or alerts for stays you have already booked, so if either matters to you, check the current app. The free Hotel Tracker plan covers one hotel for three months and needs no credit card.

“Not stated publicly” means exactly that: the provider does not document it on their own site, so we do not guess on their behalf. Every Hotel Tracker row above is documented on our pricing page and how it works.
Which one fits you
- Still choosing a hotel? Start on Google Hotels or KAYAK. Broad comparison is what they are best at, and we will happily say so.
- Already booked a flexible rate? That is our home ground (see how a price alert after booking works). Set your target, get on with your life, and act when the email arrives.
- Want to stay in control? Hotel Tracker is the option where you set the threshold, you see the numbers and you make the call — without forwarding a confirmation to anyone.
The honest play is to use both phases: compare before booking, book a free-cancellation rate, then let a tracker watch it. For that second half, this is what we built.

Transparency note: Hotel Tracker is our own product, and booking links on this site can be affiliate links (via Stay22). Statements about other services describe what those providers publish on their own websites, checked on 19 July 2026 (KAYAK: 17 October 2026). Details and availability can change — where a provider does not document something, we say so rather than assume.
